School Life
Events and participation.
Depending on the school, we offer either an April start (aligned with the Japanese school year) or an August start (aligned with the international school calendar). However, students can enter the program mid-year. Please inquire with each school for details.
Meals and snacks vary by campus. Please consult your specific school for details. Bringing a packed lunch is also acceptable.
We work with families to accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions. Please inform the school in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Some campuses offer a school bus service. Please inquire with your desired location for availability and fees.
The schedule may vary depending on the school, so please contact each school directly for details. We also offer seasonal school programs (for an additional fee).
School hours vary slightly by campus, but most operate from 9:00 AM to 2:00 or 3:00 PM. Please confirm with your school.
We do not have a school uniform, but there are designated items such as a backpack, hat, smock, and T-shirt (worn for physical activities and events).
We provide regular communication through newsletters, apps, and parent-teacher meetings to keep families informed and involved.
While each campus will have their own event schedule, there are a number of events over the school year that we ask parents to participate in. We have open days, parent teacher conferences, PTA events, and seasonal events. The students always love having their parents at these events and we hope that you will be eager to join us for these special occasions.
Teaching & Learning
Events and participation.
Our curriculum is theme-based, encouraging children to explore themes deeply through hands-on experiences and active engagement in English.
All our teachers are native English speakers with a university degree and a minimum of two years of teaching experience. We hire based on passion and alignment with our educational philosophy.
Teachers guide children in expressing their emotions and developing empathy. Group activities help nurture cooperation and communication skills.
We use positive reinforcement and respectful communication. Teachers work closely with children to understand their needs and help resolve conflicts peacefully.
Safety is our top priority. We conduct regular safety drills, maintain secure facilities, and provide constant supervision both indoors and outdoors.
If a child becomes ill or injured, we will contact the guardian immediately. In emergencies, we will follow our medical protocol and provide necessary care.
While each child will be different, 2,000 hours of English exposure is recommended to achieve confident English communication skills. TIS Kindergarten is an immersive English environment, providing full-time students with over 1,000 hours of exposure per year through daily activities and school routines.
Classes are divided by age group to align with the developmental stages of the children. All lessons are conducted in English, and students engage in age-appropriate theme-based activities.
Generally, no. Our curriculum is designed to be completed entirely within the kindergarten lessons.
Even for younger children, our theme-based curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and engagement. Many students become so absorbed in the activities that they naturally begin to use English in daily interactions.
We do not provide support for language proficiency tests. However, KG3 students have the option of taking the TOEFL Primary® Step 1 test.
We provide a variety of activities such as nature walks, crafts, music, and physical play to support holistic development.
Each class has a native English speaking teacher. English-speaking assistants also support the classes when needed. The student-to-teacher ratio is 1:14. This ration helps ensure individualized care and instruction.
There is no time allocated for studying Japanese in either the regular curriculum (from 9:00 to 14:00) or in the extended care program.

Beyond Graduation & Future Planning
Next steps, schooling, and continued language development.
Our kindergarten is affiliated with Tokyo International School (TIS). When moving on to elementary school, our graduates receive admission guidance prior to general applicants and are given priority in admission opportunities. In addition, families may also choose a variety of other paths, such as Japanese public elementary schools, other international schools besides TIS, or Japanese private elementary schools.
We do not currently have any partnerships or priority admissions with other international schools.
We do not offer specific exam preparation guidance for elementary school entrance exams. However, we are happy to provide general advice or information upon request. If you have particular concerns or goals, please feel free to consult with us.
